Why checkerboard became the motif of the room

Checkerboard is having a moment, but it isn't new — it's one of the oldest decorative grids we have, and that's exactly why it works. The eye reads it as order and mischief in the same glance.

On a coffee table, the pattern does something specific: it turns a flat surface into the most alive object in the room without adding a single sculptural flourish. The colour does the talking. Rose against tomato keeps it warm rather than graphic-cold.
